The project was open-sourced on June 6, 2019, and donated to the Apache Software Foundation by API7.ai in October 2019. As of the end of 2022, Apache APISIX has more than 500 code contributors from around the world. It releases a new version every month and becomes the most active API gateway project for developers around the world.
